Welcome to the Original and the biggest Level Crossing channel with 1,428 different UK road crossings. Unless you live at the top of Scotland or in NI, your local crossings are all on this channel. Crossings are filmed with 2 proper cameras for that noticeable extra quality and realistic colours. Phone cameras are never used. Crossings are not filmed more than twice in the last 10 years. Factual information on each crossing is provided together with justified criticism when crossings have not been operated well, millions have been wasted or there are safety issues.
This channel encourages small UA-cam channels and refused to take adverts when that was an option. Others who did it for the money were heavily promoted by UA-cam making profits for the American company. Obviously that wasn't fair and it still hasn't been corrected. If you run a small UA-cam channel, remember that watching or subscribing to channels with many subscribers simply harms your channel.

Staines Level Crossing
TODAY at 5.12 and 5.20. The first train of the day, empty coaching stock from Staines C.H.S (5.07) to Ascot (5.25) and then the first passenger train the 5.20 Staines to Reading (6.12) service. This may be the joint earliest train shown on this channel with a 5.12 train at Highams Park in 2023. I've filmed in Staines twice before at 6.55 in 2011 and at 6.30 in 2017 to avoid the traffic. ua-cam.com/video/WVzJJKd4HIA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/mzXxY5TdLwQ/v-deo.html Very little has changed since 2011. The pedestrian stop line, vehicle stop line and the end of the yellow line all used to be lined up, now they aren't. After the crossing there used to be doubled up signs showing road hump and school on an island and on the pavement. One of the pavement signs has gone and the other has been turned. Decided it might be prudent not to film the Police Car.

Friday May 24 2024 at 21.26. The 21.15 Exeter St Davids to Okehampton (21.55) train. The last but one of the day. There was just enough daylight to see what was going on, a long blast of the horn told everyone in most of Devon that a train was coming, the station stairs lit up at just the right moment and the signalman and driver exchanged the token and a few words. Came here in 2013 when a pic...

Wednesday June 26 2024 at 9.50. The 7.52 Antwerpen-Centraal to De Panne (10.08) train. (All times on this channel are UK times - 10.50 Belgium time). Diksmuide is a busy small town with its station and level crossing near its centre and close to a crossroads. Traffic queues build up and there is concern that vehicles will stop on the crossing. Hence the flashing brown traffic light rather than ...

Wednesday June 19 2024 at 8.53. The 8.10 Crewe to Nottingham (9.52) train. In 2013 it looked like this: ua-cam.com/video/s9iJw4MBNf4/v-deo.html There were halogen lights then and the lifting mechanism nearest the camera has been replaced since. There were quite a few people on the train. Maybe going to work. Five seconds of horn blast after the crossing was probably directed at a gated farm cro...

Wednesday June 19 2024 at 8.24. The 6.24 Newark Castle to Crewe (9.15) train running 15 minutes late. Came here nearly 11 years ago ua-cam.com/video/Eo6cPi0h8OU/v-deo.html UA-cam made some software that was supposed to stabilise shaky videos. l used it here as the road was rough, but it was useless. Bits wobble about. The crossing has new lights and there are fewer white lines each side now. Th...

Monday May 20 2024 at 12.51. The 12.52 De Panne to Antwerpen-Centraal (15.09) train. This is the 2nd crossing on the line in north-west Belgium. Note that the bottom ends of the level crossing signs have protective covers to stop people hurting themselves. The railway also spends far less on fencing than Network Rail. What happens when someone walks along beside the track one wonders? In April ...

Wednesday June 19 2024 at 12.40. The 10.53 London Euston to Manchester (13.31) running 24 minutes late. This is the West Coast Main Line. I came here last year but no trains appeared. Last filmed here 11 years ago ua-cam.com/video/zmGfRgAL-_I/v-deo.html and I remember it well as it is a distinctive crossing. Since then there are new lights and more tiles have fallen off the old crossing keeper'...

Wednesday June 19 2024 at 7.48am. The 7.06 Crewe to Newark Castle (9.22) train. Came here in 2013 and filmed from the other side ua-cam.com/video/yBk40-JJ0Vw/v-deo.html Since then the barriers and lights have been replaced but the wooden hut resembling an Ice-Cream kiosk, remains. Came here in 2013 when it was an open crossing. ua-cam.com/video/rBIwI9Jgpak/v-deo.html The Rail Accident Investigation Branch reported on Open Crossings in 2010. They did not recommend putting barriers in here. That was obviously because It is very hard to see how putting in barriers has improved it in any way o...

Wednesday June 19 2024 at 6.47 and 7.01am. The first two passenger trains of the day, the 5.53 Nottingham to Crewe (7.58) and the 6.08 Crewe to Newark Castle (8.08) almost passed on the crossing. As there was no point getting there earlier, I drove to get there for those trains but, unusually, a light locomotive, 82659, heading for Carlisle, past earlier. Monday May 20 2024 at 13.04. The 10.51 Antwerpen-Centraal to De Panne(13.08) train. That is certainly the train that made the journey on the day I wrote this. The line has become twin track so an extra red and white V has been added to the warning lights. This is instead of the 'Another train coming if lights continue to flash' signs we have. A flemish speaker used his best English but probably...

Monday May 20 2024 at 13.54. A gold painted locomotive unexpectedly turned up on its own heading towards the end of the line at nearby De Panne. This is the 4th crossing on the line in what seems to be a brand new, but almost completely deserted, retail park. Maybe because they have two official languages, they aren't keen on written signs in Belgium and that applies to locomotive numbers too. ...

Friday May 24 2024 at 19.19. The 18.38 Plymouth to Gunnislake (19.23) train. Came here in 2016 when it was an open crossing without lights. Nobody else bothered to film it like that so mine is the only video: ua-cam.com/video/WUQ9Ot664ic/v-deo.html I remember it well. Monday May 20 2024 at 14.05. The 13.52 De Panne to somewhere train. It only had two sections instead of the usual three which suggests it wasn't going to the usual place. The video starts with a good view of the station. Note that unlike in the UK, people can climb on to the platform from the level crossing if they wish. Certainly nothing is done to deter them. Also there are no written signs o...
Nice one
Nice video! Such a cool, original crossing here!
Nice
Nice
Car jumped red lights
True
Utter bellend coming the other way.
Nice.
I’ve been there at Friday 24th March 2023 Last Year said Steve
SteveDD1 will you upload Loxley Lane Level Crossing on Sunday 23rd June 2024
Nearly right.
It has the same bell as a Dutch level crossing
They’re still using the right side of the track
They probably installed Half Barriers here because it's twin track, and Network Rail wanted most of the twin track AOCL's to be upgraded. Nice video nontheless
There used to be a similar sign in the UK at one point, at multi-track crossings without barriers.
It wasn't that similar - they were a different shape and design, but I get what you're saying.
Nice one them pedestrian lights still don't work
What a remote rural crossing. Just a beautiful area that you should appreciate. Well done!!!
Nice, the train looked like a British train
I think it felt 'deserted' because the road was shut further north, if you remember. It was because of this unexpected train (which looks very similar to the Class 66 engines of the UK) that I didn't get a video here 😂
SteveDD1 tomorrow can you upload Okeltor Level Crossing please
I much prefer AOCLs. They’re much rarer these days but I’m glad this upgrade and the one at Okeltor went without barriers
A tailring on an AOCL? 🤔
Great video, really cool upgrade!
MUCH too short a warning time, barriers that are MUCH too long, all on a crossing whose upgrade was completely pointless and a waste of money to begin with. One may even have a case over NR in a court of law, if one was familiar with the official regulations.
Less than 27secs there. What are network rail thinking
I’m not a fan of this crossing tbh
Nice but setup is negative of great
Wow!! Just an outstanding video. A most beautiful area of the UK
Very nice! Moflash YA30s are weird
My closest crossing nice
You were having lunch at school I suppose.
awesome video
Call me sad but seeing those halogen lights makes me nostalgic for some reason. Is it just me?
Lovely video. I do so love that part of the UK.
Lovely video! Tall wigwags here
Nice video! Theyve ruined this crossing in my opinion
That is so amazing SteveDD1, I like your videos so much especially the ones in York (North Yorkshire) 🙂👍🏻
Thank you James. I must visit North Yorkshire this summer.
Name a few Yorkshire crossings that you'd like me to film and I'll try and do them.

👍
Nice video Steve! Nice to see you back 😁
That’s Trencreek level crossing for anyone who is confused.
Well nobody could be confused. It's the only level crossing in Newquay.
+SteveDD2 I know, just for people who go by official names. Also that E2S alarm sounds broken.
@@Newtownabbeyist208 it is
I do seem to remember that fence shaking when I went
Nice catch SteveDD1 🙂👍🏻
Nice one! Quite a cool lil crossing 😎
0:21 wow a double pass of the turbostars
Cool
Thanks Jack
Those alarms (larger yodalarms) remind me of my school’s sensitive fire alarm’s which go off nearly once a week One time we had 5 alarms in 1 day
The barriers have now been removed
Hi Steve, you're incorrect to think a passenger was picked up from behind the signal box or that it's unauthorised - what happens here is a token exchange system, where the signaller gives the driver a "token" which allows them to proceed down a single track line, and then hands it back when they're leaving the section. Passengers can only be collected or dropped off at stations - no exceptions except in emergency. (I know this error has already been addressed though)
No that's simply not what happened. The guy was caught out, he got into trouble for it, he didn't like it and sent me abusive messages for about 5 years. Your ex-friend thought the same but then found out I was right. There was a lot more going on than you realise.
Why stealing other people’s videos?
I'm not. This isn't someone's level crossing video. Plus I ask permission.
Can you revisit Barlaston and Wedgwood level crossings?
Ahh first video of the year Steve! Is there more coming our way?
Yes, my 14th season. A couple of weeks until the next one though.
There was a giant bus that was trapped in this crossing once It didn’t get hit the crossing did an emergency sequence
awesome
Thanks John. Good to hear from you.
